From the name only one can pick that Teen Dal is combination of three different dals. Teen Daali is a regular dal served in Sindhi homes.

Ingredients
  • ½ cup chana dal ( split bengal gram )
  • ¼ cup chilke wali urad dal ( split black lentil with skin )
  • ½ cup chilke wali moong dal ( split green gram )
  • 7 – 8 garlic cloves
  • 1 – 2 green chili
  • 1 large onion ( fine chopped )
  • 1 tsp red chili powder or according to taste
  • ¼ tsp turmeric powder
  • Salt according to taste ( according 1 ½ tsp )
  • 2 tbsp ghee
  • 2 ½ cup water
Instructions ( 1 cup = 250 ml, 1 tbsp = 15 ml, 1 tsp = 5 ml)
  1. Wash all dal properly. Soak them with water for 30 min.
  2. Drain the water and transfer in a pressure cooker. Add salt and turmeric powder. Add water.
  3. Pressure cook for 3 – 4 whistles.
  4. Turn off the flame and keep it aside to cool completely. Allow cooker to release steam itself only.
  5. Meanwhile make a paste of ginger and garlic in a mortar-pastel.
  6. Fine chop the onion and chili and keep it aside.
  7. Heat ghee in a small pan.
  8. Add fine chop onion and sauté till get brown in color. While cooking add pinch of salt.
  9. Add ginger – garlic paste and chili. Saute for 2 minute.
  10. Add red chili powder and mix well.
  11. Add it into boiled teen dal and mix well.
  12.
