Rinse the rice properly. Soak them in enough water for 20 -25 minute.
Drain the water and keep is aside.
Meanwhile thinly slice the onion. Keep it aside.
Heat the oil in non stick pan.
Add cumin seeds, cloves and cardamom.
When they start to release aroma, Add sliced onion and ½ tsp salt.
Saute onion on medium flame till they turn brown. Add red chili powder and salt. Add water.
When water comes to boil, add soaked and drained rice.
Cover the pan using lid. Cook the rice on medium slow flame till rice get cooked completely. Stir in between. Do not over mix otherwise rice will break.
Turn off the flame. Mix well the cooked onion rice.
