This moong dal palak recipe is very simple and easy using regular spices. You can also add whole spices to enhance the taste of it. This is very easy and quick recipe. Health conscious people should add this recipe of moong dal palak in their diet plan.

Ingredients
For Boiling
  • ½ cup chilkewali moong dal ( split moong lentils with skin )
  • 1 ½ cup water
  • ½ tsp turmeric powder
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ tsp oil
Other Ingredients :
  • 2 ½ cup fine chopped and tightly packed spinach / palak
  • ½ cup fine chopped onion ( 1 large onion )
  • ½ cup fine chopped tomatoes ( 1 medium size tomato )
  • 1 green chili
  • 5 – 6 garlic cloves
  • 1 inch ginger
  • 1 tbsp oil
  • 1 tbsp ghee
  • ½ tsp cumin seeds
  • 2 dry red chili
  • 1 tsp red chili powder
  • 1 tsp coriander powder
  • ¼ tsp garam masala
  • 1 ½ cup water or according to need
  • Fine chopped coriander leaves
  • Lemon juice if required
Instructions ( 1 cup = 250 ml, 1 tbsp = 15 ml, 1 tsp = 5 ml)
  1. Wash the moong dal properly. Add 1 ½ cup water.
  2. Add salt, turmeric powder and ½ tsp oil.
  3. Pressure cook for 3 – 4 whistles.
  4. Once dal get cooked keep it aside for cooling.
  5. Meanwhile wash the spinach leaves or palak very well. Chop them and keep it aside. Same way fine chop the onion, tomato and green chili. Make a paste of garlic and ginger in mortar pastel.
  6. Heat the oil and ghee in the pan or kadai.
  7. Add cumin seeds and dry red chilies.
  8. Saute till cumin seeds starts to crackle, add chopped green chilies.
  9. Add fine chopped onion. Mix well.
  10. Saute till onion starts to get brown in color. Add ginger – garlic paste.
  11. Saute till raw aroma of garlic goes away. Add chopped tomatoes. Mix well.
  12. Add all dry spices and salt. Mix well.
  13. Cook till oil starts to release from sides. Add chopped palak. Mix well.
  14. Cook till palak get soften and cooked. Add boiled dal. Mix well.
  15. Add water. Cook for 8 – 10 minutes on slow flame.
  16. Turn off the flame. Here your moong dal palak is ready to serve.
  17. Garnish the moong dal palak with coriander leaves.
  18. While serving this moong dal palak with roti, plain paratha, steamed rice or jeera rice, squeeze lemon if required.
