Raw Banana Sabji ( Kachhe Kele ki Sabji )

Ingredients
  • 4 - 5 raw banana
  • ½ cup onion ( 2 small onion )
  • ½ cup tomatoes fine chopped ( 1 medium tomato )
  • 4 - 5 garlic cloves
  • ½ inch ginger
  • 1 - 2 green chilies
  • 5 - 6 curry leaves
  • 1 tbsp oil
  • ½ tsp mustard seeds
  • 2 tsp urad dal
  • ½ tsp cumin seeds
  • ¼ tsp turmeric
  • 1 tsp red chili powder
  • 1 tsp coriander powder
  • ¼ tsp garam masala
Instructions ( 1 cup = 250 ml, 1 tbsp = 15 ml, 1 tsp = 5 ml)
  1. Chop the onion, tomatoes, green chilies and keep it aside.
  2. Make a paste of ginger and garlic in mortar pastel.
  3. Peel the bananas and chop them.
  4. Meanwhile heat the oil in pan.
  5. Add mustard seeds when oil is medium hot.
  6. When mustard seeds start to splutter, add urad dal.
  7. When urad dal turns into pink color, add cumin seeds.
  8. When cumin seeds start to sputter, add chopped green chilies and curry leaves.
  9. Saute for a while, add chopped onion. When onion starts to turn into brown color, add ginger garlic paste.
  10. Saute till raw aroma goes away. Add turmeric powder.
  11. Mix well. Add chopped raw bananas or kachhe kele. Add salt and mix well.
  12. Cook for 3 – 4 minutes. Add chopped tomatoes, red chili powder, coriander powder and garam masala.
  13. Mix well. Cover the pan using plate as showing in picture. Keep some water into plate. Because of this bananas will get cooked easily and will not stick at bottom. Stir in between.
  14. Cook till raw bananas get cooked completely.
