Popu Annam - Tempered Rice ( Andra Style )

- 2 cup cooked rice
- ½ tsp mustard seeds
- ½ tsp cumin seeds
- 1 tsp black gram skinned ( urad dal )
- 1 tsp bengal gram spilt and skinned ( chana dal )
- 2 tbsp roasted peanuts
- 8-10 curry leaves
- 1-2 green chili ( fine chopped )
- 2 dry red chili
- ½ cup onion ( fine chopped )
- 1 tbsp garlic ( fine chopped )
- 1 tbsp oil
- 4 tbsp coriander ( fine chopped )
- Heat the oil, add mustard seeds when it splutters add cumin seeds.
- When it sizzles add chana dal, urad dal, red chilies, green chilies, curry leaves and garlic and saute till dal's turns golden brown colour.
- Add chopped onions. Saute till onions turns golden brown colour.
- Add salt and turmeric powder. Mix well.
- Add cooked rice and mix well. Here your Andhra style tempered rice – popu annam is ready.
- Garnish popu annam with coriander.
- Serve hot popu annam with fresh curd and roasted papad.
