Ganesh Chaturthi is almost here. But this year due to the pandemic Ganesh Festival will be celebrated in a different way !! So let’s plan the most awaited celebration together. This blog post will discuss from history to Ganesh Chaturthi prasad special recipes to virtual event planning.

The arrival of “ Bappa “ :

Ganesh Chaturthi or Vinayaka Chaturthi is an Indian Hindu 10 day-long festival to celebrate the arrival of Lord Ganesh to earth from Kailash Mountain with his mother Goddess (Devi) Parvati. It begins on the 4th day (Chaturthi) of the Bhadrapada month of the Hindu calendar.

Lord Ganesha (Ganpati) is known to be the God of New Beginnings and Remover of Obstacles (Vighnaharta). He is also God of Wisdom, Prosperity, and Intelligence as per Hindu mythology. Ganeshotsav or Ganesh Chaturthi festival is celebrated all over India (particularly in Maharashtra) at home and in public by local community groups with equal devotion.

How we used to celebrate the Ganesh Festival :

After spending few years in Pune, this is one of my most awaited festivals when I gear up for celebrations, puja (aarti), decorating home, and most favorite preparing traditional sweets and dishes at home. I love to take part in the celebrations organized in our society. I go to take part in morning and evening Arti with my family, which brings positive vibes in home and surroundings. I recall how my little kiddo participated in the cultural program held in our society pandal during this festival. It helps to gain power and develop a strong bond of faith with the Lord.

Favorite Dishes of Lord Ganesha :

The most favorite dish we offer to Lord Ganesha during this festival is Modak. Modak is a steamed or fried small dumpling made from rice or wheat flour stuffed with grated coconut, jaggery, dried fruits, and other condiments? Another favorite sweet dish of Lord Ganesha is Churma ladoo.  Click here for the churma ladoo recipe.
