Step 1 :Chop the cabbage in thin slices and keep it aside.

Step 2 :Fine chop the green chilies and keep it aside.

Step 3 :Fine chop the tomatoes and keep it aside.

Step 4 :Heat oil in a pan or kadhai.

Step 5 :Add mustard seeds.

Step 6 :When they splutter, add cumin seeds.

Step 7 :When cumin seeds start to crackle, add asafetida and turmeric powder.

Ingredients
  • 8 cup chopped cabbage ( 600 gm cabbage)
  • 1 cup fine chopped tomatoes ( 2 medium size tomato )
  • 2 tbsp oil
  • 1 tsp mustard seeds ( sarson / raai )
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds ( jeera )
  • 7 – 8 green chilies or according to taste
  • 8 – 10 curry leaves ( kadi patta )
  • Pinch of asafetida ( hing )
  • ¼ tsp turmeric powder ( haldi )
  • 1 ½ tsp red chili powder or according to taste ( lal mirch )
  • 1 ½ tsp coriander powder ( dhaniya powder )
  • ¼ tsp garam masala
  • Salt according to taste ( approx. 1 ½ tsp )
Instructions ( 1 cup = 250 ml, 1 tbsp = 15 ml, 1 tsp = 5 ml)
