The Arabic word “qahwah” may have been the root for kahwah or kehwa. Kahwa is a traditional green tea consumed in Afghanistan, northern Pakistan and some region of central Asia as well as in Kashmir. Now a day’s which is popular in some parts of india.

Kashmiri style tea – kahwa tea is an aromatic green tea prepared with boiling water, cinnamons, cardamom and garnished with saffron and almonds.

Now a day’s people are being more health conscious. Now they have started to believe in tea without milk. They just love the variations of green tea or black tea. For them here I have presented Kashmiri style green tea called Kahwa tea or Kashmiri tea or Kashmiri kahwa. Diabetic people can also consume it. For that please prepare it without adding sugar. Then also it tastes yumm. You can also replace the sugar with honey. At that time add honey at the time of serving.

Kashmiri style tea – kahwa tea is an aromatic green tea prepared with boiling water, cinnamons, cardamom and garnished with saffron and almonds.

Serves: 5 - 6 Glass
Ingredients
  • 5 cup water
  • 3 inch cinnamon
  • 4 – 5 cardamom
  • 2 tsp kahwa leaves
  • 2 tbsp saffron water
  • Sugar according to taste ( approx. 4 – 5 tbsp )
Instructions ( 1 cup = 250 ml, 1 tbsp = 15 ml, 1 tsp = 5 ml)
  1. Heat water in a pan.
  2. Add cardamom and cinnamon.
  3. Boil water for 5 – 7 minutes on medium high flame.
  4. Turn off the flame.
  5. Add sugar. Stir well till sugar gets dissolved.
  6. Add kahwa tea leaves. Stir well. Cover the pan using lid.
  7. Keep it aside for 5 – 7 minutes.
  8. Strain the kahwa tea in another pan.
  9. Add soaked saffron water. Stir well.
  10. Pour the kashmiri style kahwa tea in glasses or tea mugs.
  11. Garnish the kashmiri kahwa with blanched almonds or silvered almonds.
  12. Serve warm during tea time and enjoy this healthy kahwa tea with your family and friends.
  13. Note : You can replace the sugar with honey.
  14. If you don’t have kashmiri kahwa tea leaves, you regular green tea leaves.
