Step-by-Step Tempered Masala Rice Recipe :

Step 1 : Fine chop the onion, tomato and green chili. Keep it aside.

Step 2 : Chop the garlic or make a paste in mortar-pastel.

Step 3 : Heat the oil in pan or kadai.

Step 4 : Add mustard seeds when oil is medium hot.

Step 5 : When mustard seeds start to splutter, add cumin seeds.

Step 6 : When cumin seeds turn into brown, add pinch of hing, chopped green chili and curry leaves.

Step 7 : Saute for 30 seconds. Add chopped onions.

Step 8 : Fry for 2 minute only. Add chopped tomatoes. Mix well.

Ingredients
  • 2 cup leftover rice or cooked rice
  • 1 medium size onion
  • 1 medium size tomato
  • 1 – 2 green chili
  • 2 – 3 garlic cloves
  • 5 – 6 curry leaves
  • ½ tsp mustard seeds
  • ½ tsp cumin seeds
  • Pinch of asafetida ( hing )
  • ¼ tsp turmeric powder
  • ½ tsp red chili powder
  • ½ tsp coriander powder
  • Salt if required or according to taste

  • Coriander leaves for garnishing
  • Lemon juice if required
Instructions ( 1 cup = 250 ml, 1 tbsp = 15 ml, 1 tsp = 5 ml)
