Presenting another healthy version of tea! Spiced Black Tea. As like coffee, tea (popularly known as chai in India) has many inherently beneficial properties. The black tea is rich in antioxidants and the spices in tea have been used for thousands of years to promote general health and well-being, as well as to treat various diseases. Knowing these health benefits of tea I keep trying and posting variety of healthy tea recipes. In this spiced black tea I have used spices like cinnamon, cardamom, clove, black pepper and star anise. You can choose whichever flavor you like.

As like coffee, tea (popularly known as chai in India) has many inherently beneficial properties. Try this Spiced Black Tea.

Ingredients
  • 2 ½ cup water
  • 4 cloves
  • 4 black pepper
  • 2 green cardamoms
  • 1 inch cinnamon
  • 1 star anise
  • 1 tsp black tea or according to taste
  • Lemon Juice according to taste ( approx 1 ½ - 2 tsp )
  • Honey according to taste ( approx 2 – 3 tbsp )
Instructions ( 1 cup = 230 ml, 1 tbsp = 15 ml, 1 tsp = 5 ml)
  1. Boil 2 ½ cup water in a kettle or a pot.
  2. Once water starts to boil, remove from heat. Add black tea / tea bags and whole spices. Cover the pan and keep it aside for 15-20 min.
  3. Once the tea is steeped, strain it, discarding the spices and tea / tea bags.
  4. Add sugar / honey and lemon juice and your spiced black tea is ready.
  5. Garnish the spiced black tea with lemon slices, mint leaves, or spices.
  6. Serve spiced black tea warm in cold winter days or chilled in hot summer days.
